Error in Making a Character

So I made an account and logged in using the newest client that was part of the separate download. I downloaded the entire set up and new client, dragged and dropped new client into the folder and started up the game. Came into the log in screen and I logged in which I then proceeded to make a new character but when I click on a job any job the game is still running but nothing is responding when I click. Soon after I get sent back to the login screen where nothing is responding yet the game window still runs.
