Just a tip for beginners.

Don't you even think about using C4D yet.
First, just practice with regular photos, not C4D oh please no.
I never thought about touching C4D when I started photoshop. All I did was go to youtube and watched a lot of tutorials (Speed arts are also included.)
After you get the hang of making photos by mushing them together, THEN you can try out C4D. Truthfully, I'm not that good of a person who makes great C4D signatures also. I just started like 4 or 5 weeks ago.
Try to match the render with the background also. If you can, try to add depth and perspective to your signature. People also have to realize, THERE ARE NO PERFECT SIGNATURES. Different people have different styles. Not all of them are the same. That's why I usually don't CnC that often.

Lastly, if you're thinking about glow effects, DON'T MAKE THEM TOO STRONG.
