Re: My first-Fail
The walk cycle was alright for a first go. I noticed while the character was walking he moves up and down a few pixels 5 times. Try to keep your character level while he's walking. Even 1 pixel off gets noticed, especially by experienced graphic artists.
I also noticed that frames 8 and 9 were exactly the same. This isn't very good for your animation as it looks like the character stops to think for a frame before he does the strangest pirouette in history. Frame 9 should be the wind up before the spin, not just a copied frame, making it look jagged.
I now come to the spin the character did. First things first, it was very, very odd. The character's body spins round while the head remains in the same place akin to something out of the exorcist. Try to make it so the head follows the body in the spin and it wont look too unnatural.
All in all, I just think you need a lot more practice. You'll pick all of this stuff up as you do it, so keep trying and you'll get better and better.
Also spend a little more time on your animations, Quality > Quantity is usually the rule to follow.
