1. Bad outline.
2. Bad palette (theres only 2 shades ._.)
3. Bad shading, the root of the hair is wtf. This can be fixed by adjusting the outline.
If you have an interest in spriting, I suggest going to maplemation for tuts.

OT: As stated above, a color palette would be a good idea to use. A color palette is a small area where you place all the colors you will use for your work.
